Don’t Mention Myspace on Facebook

As reported on Techcrunch, Facebook doesn’t allow you to have any competitor names, such as Myspace or Orkut, listed as an option in the new Facebook Polls feature. Apparently to them, Communism is better than Myspace…and I think they may be onto something there.

That said, it’s a pretty retarded policy if you ask me. If you polled 1000 random members on Myspace, I guarantee you 999 of them would already know of Myspace and the one who didn’t would most likely be in the corner stuffing cheese in his ears and asking his ceiling fan what 9 divided by grass is. If Facebook really thinks banning the usage of competitor’s names is going to be most effective in retaining visitors, then that doesn’t speak too loudly about how they view their product.
