Introduction

I guess I should do a little introduction about myself here. My name’s Goob. Seriously.

I run many other sites, such as Shyzer, Hey, It’s Free!, and Learn To Cheat. You might want to check a few of those out if you find you’ve got too much spare time on your hands now that you’re boycotting Facebook.

As for the new Facebook changes, I’m not really against them. In fact, I’m not against them at all and find them kind of cool. Just last night while out at the bars, I knew not to ask my friend “Hey, how are things going with Sally?” since Facebook had informed me they had just broken up. And any service that helps me avert awkward moments gets a thankful nod from me. I also enjoy how people forget to realize that the new changes are only displaying information that was already available. It’s not like they are showing how many times you refreshed somebody’s profile (which is good, because I don’t want you seeing who I’m stalking!) or creating new stalkers. If somebody had wanted to follow your Facebook footsteps before, they could. What I am glad, however, is that this is raising more people’s awareness to the amount of information they put on not only Facebook but the Internet in general. If this makes more people discover that they have a little too much info about themselves floating around out there and forces them to change their habits, then I will be a happy camper.

That said, I can completely understand why somebody wouldn’t like the new changes. If I post on somebody’s wall, there’s a chance that another certain person might see it, but not a certainty. Now, the chance is much higher. Will the new changes stay? If so, will most people disable them making the changes essentially useless? Only time can tell and I plan to follow the news and developments each step of the way, as well as other Facebook news out there.
